Game of Chores (“the App,” “we,” “us”) turns everyday chores into friendly competition — battles, rivalries, the Daily Arena, and House Wars. These Community Guidelines explain what we expect from everyone who uses the App, what is not allowed, and how we keep the community safe.
These Guidelines summarize and sit alongside the binding rules in our Terms of Service (in particular Section 7, Acceptable Use, and Section 9, Block and Report) and our Privacy Policy (in particular Section 2.11, Block and Report). Where this summary and those documents differ on a point of detail, the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy govern.
1. Who these Guidelines are for
These Guidelines apply to everyone who uses the App, on every surface where you can be seen by or interact with other people — your display name and avatar, chore titles, proof photos, taunts, comments, side-bet text, rivalry records, leaderboards, the Daily Arena, and House Wars.
The App is intended for users aged 13 and over, with additional protections for users under 18. The age bands and the features available to each band are described in Section 9 of the Privacy Policy.
2. The spirit of the game
Game of Chores is built on friendly rivalry. Trash talk and taunts are part of the fun — but there is a line between competitive banter and harm. Keep it light, keep it about the chores, and never use the App to make another person feel unsafe.
- Compete fairly. Win and lose with good humor. Do not manipulate XP, streaks, leaderboards, or Daily Arena rankings.
- Respect the people you play with. A rival is still a person. Banter is fine; cruelty is not.
- Keep proof real. Proof photos should show the chore you actually did. Do not submit misleading, recycled, or fake proof.
3. What is not allowed
The following content and behavior are not allowed anywhere in the App. These mirror the Acceptable Use rules in Section 7 of the Terms of Service.
- Spam and manipulation — repeated unwanted invites, taunts, or side-bets; automated or scripted accounts; mass-creating chores or battles to game XP, streaks, leaderboards, or Daily Arena rankings.
- Harassment — bullying, threatening, intimidating, stalking, or repeatedly contacting someone against their wishes, including through taunts, comments, side-bet text, or chore titles.
- Hate speech — content that incites violence against, dehumanizes, or expresses hatred toward a person or group based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or any other protected characteristic.
- Sexual content — pornographic, sexually explicit, or sexually suggestive proof photos, share cards, display names, avatars, chore titles, taunts, or side-bet text. The App is not a platform for sexual content of any kind.
- Child endangerment — any content that sexualizes minors, any attempt to contact minors for sexual purposes, or any use of the App to facilitate harm to a minor. We cooperate with child-safety authorities and act on credible reports without warning.
- Self-harm — content that encourages suicide, self-injury, eating disorders, or other forms of self-harm. If you are struggling, the App is not a place for help — please reach out to a local crisis line.
- Intellectual-property infringement — submitting content you do not have the rights to, or misusing the App’s branding, logos, or share-card templates to suggest endorsement or affiliation you do not have.
- Other illegal activity — using the App to commit fraud, distribute malware, breach another person’s privacy, impersonate someone, make threats of violence, or otherwise break the law. The App’s side-bets are informal social wagers, not gambling.
This list is not exhaustive. Where the line between acceptable and unacceptable is unclear, we decide in good faith with the safety of the community and the integrity of the App as our guiding criteria.
4. Block and Report
You have tools to protect yourself and to flag content that breaks these Guidelines.
Block. If you block another user, they cannot challenge you, taunt you, or appear in your discovery surfaces; pending challenges between you are auto-declined; and they are removed from your rivalries list. You can unblock anyone from Settings → Privacy → Blocked users.
Report. If you see a proof photo, comment, profile, battle, rivalry record, or activity item that breaks these Guidelines, use the in-App Report tool. You choose a category (child safety, spam, harassment, hate speech, nudity or sexual content, graphic violence, impersonation, threats of violence, or self-harm) and can add an optional short description. Reports are visible only to the App’s moderation operator; the reported user is not notified that you submitted the report. The data we record when you report is described in Section 2.11 of the Privacy Policy.
Please report in good faith. We will not penalize you for a good-faith report even if we conclude no breach occurred. Reporting in bad faith — for example, mass-reporting a rival to harass them or to gain a competitive advantage — is itself a breach of these Guidelines.
5. How we review reports
We review all reports within 24 hours. Every report submitted through the in-App Report tool is reviewed by the App’s moderation operator.
After reviewing a report, we may take one or more of the following actions, depending on what we find: warn the reported user, remove the reported content, restrict interactions between the users involved, restrict or remove specific features for the reported user, or suspend or remove the reported user’s account. For reports involving child-safety risk, credible threats of violence, or sustained harassment, we may act immediately and without prior warning.
6. Consequences and appeals
When we take action against your content or your account, we give you a clear statement of reasons explaining what we did and why, as described in Section 10.4 of the Terms of Service — except where doing so would compromise an active safety investigation or where we are prohibited by law from disclosing it.
If you believe we got a moderation decision wrong, you can appeal. The appeals process — including how to submit an appeal and how long we take to respond — is set out in Section 10.5 of the Terms of Service. To appeal, email legal@gameofchores.me within thirty days of receiving the statement of reasons.
7. Changes to these Guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time to keep them aligned with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and with how the App evolves. We update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page whenever we make a change. Material changes are notified through the same change-notification channel described in Section 11 of the Privacy Policy.
